Manual Lymphatic Drainage for Pre and Post Operative Care

Are you considering cosmetic surgery? If so, congratulations! Making this decision is an important step in taking control of your body and improving your self-esteem. However, there are steps to be taken before and after surgery that will be essential in achieving the most optimal results.

Prior to surgery

Prior to surgery, it is imperative that you prepare your body for such an invasive procedure. As part of the healing process, your body will experience significant swelling and inflammation. Maintaining a clean and healthy diet consisting of anti-inflammatory foods and keeping fully hydrated beforehand will help in this process. In addition, ridding your body of pre-existing toxins and inflammation before your surgery will also ensure a smoother and more rapid healing time. Manual Lymphatic Drainage will help you achieve this detoxification and prepare your system for your upcoming surgery. Manual Lymphatic Drainage before surgery typically lasts 90 minutes per session

Post surgery

Once your surgery is complete and the healing process begins, excess fluid will quickly accumulate in the body and can harden within weeks if not treated. Manual Lymphatic Drainage will effectively move this built-up fluid back into the lymphatic capillaries where it can be eliminated by the body. This prevents fibrosis, the formation of thick, fibrous scar tissue under the skin.

Another complication that may arise from cosmetic surgery is the development of seromas, the abnormal accumulation of fluid between two tissues that have been detached during a surgical procedure, or a dead space. They are a potential source of pain, redness, inflammation, and possibly infection. Manual Lymphatic Drainage, combined with taping therapy, is the most recommended treatment by surgeons to prevent and drain seromas without medical intervention.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage after surgery is a slightly modified treatment, typically lasting 60-90 minutes per session, depending on the treatment areas.

Lymphatic drainage massage decreases the cells to efficiently detoxify and renew.

Lymphatic drainage massage can help you with:

In addition to eliminating excess fluids, Manual Lymphatic Drainage is essential in improving blood circulation, reducing the appearance of scars and bruising, and relieving pain. It is proven to accelerate the healing process overall and ensures the best possible surgical results.

When should you start treatment

It is recommended to have Manual Lymphatic Drainage as soon as possible after surgery since excess fluids immediately begin to accumulate and issues can quickly occur. Therefore, if more than a week has passed since surgery, a body consultation will be required before Manual Lymphatic Drainage can be scheduled to assess the current condition of your body and identify any potential issues.

Treatments can begin as soon as 12 hours after surgery, 1-2 times per week, depending on individual need.

I have been there enough times to say confidently that you will have no regrets after any procedure that you may get at this spa.
It’s a very calm place, always smelling like peace, with a relaxing sound on, temperature just as right… wonderful…
Mary is such a great person, confident about what she says/does, always attentive to what you want and need, very kind and helpful. She makes you have the best experience ever with relaxing massages or treatments. I have had massages and a couple treatments, and I just loved it, got results after the first session.
This is the right place. I would highly recommend! I have found my happy place!

"My massage here was better than my massage at the Four Seasons."

“I booked a body scrub and massage while visiting Boston for work. I booked it based on other reviews and price point. I’ve had a lot of massages in my life and my massage here was better than my massage at the Four Seasons. My therapist, Mary, made everything super relaxing. The room was quiet, music was relaxing, and the quality was amazing. Mary made it so relaxing that I fell asleep!
Highly recommend coming here and ask for Mary!

"The facility is beautiful, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the staff are amazing."

We have visited Sculpture Body Center on numerous occasions, most recently during our week stay at Boston. The facility is beautiful, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the staff are amazing. The cupping therapy sessions are excellent and can be done before a massage or as a stand-alone treatment. The massage treatments are very high quality, and done by staff who make every effort to make it a memorable experience, The overall experience at Sculpture Body Center is outstanding and always a highlight of our trips to Boston.
