Microneedling
How does it work
Microneedling involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds in the top layer of skin.
The micro-injuries we create stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen production.
Collagen is a structural protein found in the body, providing strength and support to your skin. It is the “glue” that helps skin maintain its shape and structure by binding tissues and cells. Adequate collagen production is essential to reverse, and prevent the signs of aging.
Microneedling can help with:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Discoloration
Sagging skin
Enlarged pores
Scars
Stretch marks
What to Expect
Your therapist will first prepare your skin by deeply hydrating the areas to be treated with LED light therapy, ensuring the best results from your procedure.
A topical numbing cream will then be applied to help manage any discomfort. A handheld device will then be used over the targeted areas.
The session time will depend on the treatment area and condition of your skin.
After Treatment
Results are usually noticeable after the first treatment, continually improving as collagen production increases naturally over the next several months. There is no downtime or recovery following a microneedling treatment. However, your skin may appear pink for the first 12 hours. It is important to avoid sun exposure for several weeks after treatment due to increased skin sensitivity.
A series of treatments is usually recommended, spaced 4 weeks apart for the most optimal results. Your therapist will recommend a treatment plan after evaluating the current condition of your skin.
