What is lymphatic drainage?

The lymphatic system has the function of absorbing and filtering fluids and proteins in the interstitium, returning them to the plasma.  The heart pumps blood throughout the body, and this blood returns to it with the help of the venous and lymphatic system.

There is then an irrigation system consisting of two drainage systems (VENOUS AND LYMPHATIC). Blood and lymph circulation are closely linked, working together. Small molecules mostly go to the blood and are carried by the blood capillaries which are large particles to help reach circulation, largely through venous reabsorption and through the lymphatic system.

The liquid, rich in nutritive elements, leaves the light in the arterial capillary, reaches the interstitial environment and bathes the cells. They take what they need for your metabolism, and eliminate cell degradation products.  This interstitial fluid is then reabsorbed through the network of venous capillaries. There is an excess of elimination of venous reabsorption (liquid leftovers).  The excess liquid that bathes the cells, in the interstitial environment, allows the macromolecules to be absorbed by the lymphatic system, which is called lymph.

Lymph it’s a liquid that circulates inside the lymphatic vessels, most of which come from the liver and intestines.  Lymph is reabsorbed by lymphatic vessels throughout the body.  Through these vessels, lymph is carried to the lymph nodes where it is filtered and returned to the blood later.

The lymphatic system is foundational to health.

The lymphatic system serves as a defense against bacteria, viruses, and fungus which promotes strong immunity. Proper lymphatic stimulation is becoming more of a necessity for optimal health and vitality because of the increase in toxic environmental exposures. The lymphatic system plays a tremendous role in how we feel and the body’s ability to process and eliminate stagnant toxic debris.

The lymphatic fluid is filtered and purified as it passes through the lymph nodes where bacteria and other harmful substances are destroyed and antibodies are created. Excess fluid in the tissues interferes with cell nutrition as oxygen and nutrients take longer to pass and waste products are not being removed quickly.

The therapist providing lymphatic drainage massage has a lot of knowledge about the lymphatic system.  This knowledge allows the therapist to provide the right amount of pressure to stimulate the lymph nodes so they receive a high amount of liquid which is going to be moved through the lymph nodes to ensure the process is done correctly.

Lymphatic drainage massage decreases the cells to efficiently detoxify and renew.

Lymphatic drainage massage can help you with:

  • Immune System Regulation
  • Plastic Surgery Rehabilitation
  • Cellulite Reduction
  • Facial Skin Improvements
  • Fitness/Sports Medicine
  • Blocking and Easing the Effects of Electromagnetic Pollution
  • Stress
  • Relaxation

A typical lymphatic drainage massage therapy session lasts 60 minutes depending on the individual’s personal needs.

A systematic approach is utilized to address the lymphatic system during each treatment as well as specific areas within the body. Various protocols facilitate the body to release holding patterns within the tissue providing new pathways for the cells to efficiently detoxify and renew. The client can expect to experience a relaxed state of being followed by an energized feeling throughout the body.

A series of massage treatments is usually recommended to achieve the very best results.

Help your body achieve balance

The lymphatic system maintains the body’s fluid balance, delivers vitamins from the digestive tract, removes the waste products produced by all the cells, plays an integral role in the immune functions of the body as our sanitation and detoxification system.

"My massage here was better than my massage at the Four Seasons."

"I booked a body scrub and massage while visiting Boston for work. I booked it based on other reviews and price point. I’ve had a lot of massages in my life and my massage here was better than my massage at the Four Seasons. My therapist, Mary, made everything super relaxing. The room was quiet, music was relaxing, and the quality was amazing. Mary made it so relaxing that I fell asleep!
Highly recommend coming here and ask for Mary!
